Bill and Carol Barrett operate a small farm specializing in Suri alpacas, their fiber, yarn and yarn products, sometimes supplemented with other luxury yarns.

Suri alpacas are one of two types of alpacas, the other being huacaya.  Suris are known for fiber that is soft (“hand”) and lustrous.  Five types of lock structure occur in suri animals:   straight fiber, twisted fiber (rope-like), flat fiber, fan fiber, and curled fiber.  All but the “flat” and “fan” fibers are desirable.

Approximately one to three percent of the world population of alpacas are suris (Susan Tellez for PURELYSURI).
